UGC NET State Eligibility Test Criteria
The eligibility criteria for UGC NET (National Eligibility Test for JRF and Lectureship) is that the NET applicants must have scored at least 55% marks, without grace or rounding off, in their postgraduate examination (Master’s Degree) in the relevant subject from an Indian university or in an equivalent examination from a foreign one. SC, ST, OBC and PH candidates are required to score a minimum of 50% marks without grace or rounding off in the same.
UGC NET exam structure, syllabus and question patterns
The UGC NET Structure that is the question pattern of UGC NET alias National Eligibility Test, constitutes of three papers. UGC NET first paper is a general paper common for candidates of all subjects, which offers general knowledge questions, logical aptitudes, teaching and research aptitudes questions, comprehension passages, basic functional mathematics, civics, general knowledge and so on. UGC NET paper I is common and compulsory for all subjects and must be cleared to be eligible for further evaluation of Paper II and III. There are 60 NET Paper I MCQ out of which 50 questions are to be answered. National Eligibility Test (NET) Paper II comprises of 50 objective type questions on the examined subject with no choice. In case of a candidate attempting more than 50 questions, the first fifty answers are evaluated. There is no negative marking in either paper. UGC NET third paper questions are descriptive ones on the subject concerned, including two essays of 20 marks each and three 15 marks questions on electives / specializations. Paper III questions thus have different lengths and marks and are set across the UGC NET syllabus.
