Kolkata Police Recruitment Board is inviting application in the prescribed format for the Kolkata police combined competitive examination 2012 to be held at Kolkata for filling up the posts of Sub-Inspector, Lady Sub Inspector and Sergeant posts in Kolkata Police.

Kolkata police recruitment 2012 vacancy details & selection procedure

Kolkata Police Vacancy Details:
1. Sub Inspector (SI): 137 Posts
2. Lady Sub Inspector: 15 Posts
3. Sergeant: 684 Posts

Educational qualification: Candidate must have any Degree from a recognized university. Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali

Physical eligibility:
Male Sub-Inspector candidates: Height – 1.67mtrs, Weight- 51.5 kgs, Chest Measurement- Minimum 79 cms after exhalation and minimum expansion of 5 cms after inhalation (expansion).Vision-according to Health Manual

Lady Sub-Inspector Candidates: Height – 1.60 mtrs, Weight- 45 kgs. Vision-according to Health Manual

Male Sergeant in Kolkata Police: Height – 1.73 mtrs, Weight- 63 kgs, Chest Measurement- Minimum 86.36 cms after exhalation and minimum expansion of 5 cms after inhalation (expansion). Vision-according to Health Manual

Pay scale: The posts carry the Pay band scale of7100 - 37600 + Grade Pay3900 (PB-3), plus other admissible allowances.

Age limit: Not below 20 years and not above 27 years on 01/01/2012 (i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January, 1985 and not later than 1st January, 1992). Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC & ST candidates and by 3 years for O.B.C candidates of West Bengal.

Selection procedure: The selection procedure will consists of three successive stages Physical Measurement Test, Written Examination, and Personality Test

Application procedure: Eligible candidates can send their application, which can be Application can be obtained from www.kolkatapolice.gov.in. along with all enclosures addressed to "The Member Secretary, Kolkata Police Recruitment Board, 112 Ripon Street, (New Building) 3rd Floor, Kolkata- 700 016" by ordinary post/registered post/ under certificate of posting only latest by 5:00 PM on 03/02/2012. The envelope containing the filled in application should be superscribed as "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF SUBINSPECTOR/LADY SUB-INSPECTOR/SERGEANT IN KOLKATA POLICE, 2012"

Kolkata police combined competitive examination 2012 Scheme of Examination & syllabus

Written Examination will consist of three papers as mentioned below:
Paper – I: English, General Studies and Arithmetic carrying a total of 100 marks, consist of multiple-choice objective type questions on English (20 Marks), General Studies (40 Marks) and Arithmetic (40 Marks). Duration of the paper will be of one and half hour

Paper – II: English (Conventional Type) will carry 50 Marks). Duration of the paper will be of one hour

Paper – III: Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali (Conventional Type) will carry 50 Marks. Duration of the paper will be of one hour

Syllabus for the Examination:
1. Paper – I, (a) General Studies (40 Marks) Multiple Choice - objective type: Questions will be set to test the General Knowledge of candidates in different spheres; (b) Arithmetic (40 Marks) Multiple Choice - objective type: Questions will be set on the basis of the syllabus of Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. (c) English (20 Marks) Multiple Choice - objective type: Correct use of words, correction of sentences, use of common phrases, synonyms and antonyms etc

2. Paper – II, English (50 Marks) (Conventional Type Examination) Questions may be set on all or any of the following items: (a) Writing essay, drafting of a report from the points or material supplied, (b) Translation from Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali, as the case may be to English, (c) Condensing of a prose passage (summary/précis)

3. Paper – III, Bengali/Urdu/Hindi/Nepali (50 Marks) (Conventional Type Examination) questions may be set on all or any of the following 2 items: (a) Writing essay, drafting of a report from the points or materials supplied. (b) Translation from English to Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali, as the case may be, (c) Condensing of a prose passage (summary/precis), (d) Grammar.
