Educational Qualification:
- Sub Resistrar, Asstt. P.O. (Transport): Law Graduate
- Distt. Horticulture Officer Grade-2, DHO Grade-I & Supdt. Govt Garden, DHO: Science graduate in Horticulture (Ag.) Equivalent degree in BSc (Ag.) or Horticulture
- Distt. BSA/ Associate DIOS and Other equivalent administrative posts, Distt. Administrative Officer: Post Graduate degree
- Distt. Cane Officer, UP Ag. Service Group B (Dev. Branch): Agriculture graduate
- Distt. Audit Officer (Rev. Audit): Commerce graduate
- Asstt. Controller Legal Measurement (Grade-I): Degree in Science with Physics or Mechanical Engineering as one subject
- Asstt. Director Industries (Marketing): Post graduate degree in Arts, Science or Commerce or Technology or Postgraduate degree in Textile Industries of any recognized Institute or minimum graduation degree in textile Technology
- Asstt. Labour Commissioner: Degree in Arts with Sociology or Economics as a subject or Commerce/Law
- Distt. Programme Officer: Degree in Sociology or Social Science or Home Science or Social Work
- Sr. Lecturer, DIET: Post graduate degree with B.Ed
- Distt. Probation Officer: Post graduate degree in Psychology or Sociology or Social work or any qualification equivalent thereto or postgraduate diploma in any branch of social work from any recognized Institute of Social work

Age limit: Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have crossed the age of 35 years on July 1, 2012 i.e. they must have not been born earlier than 2nd July, 1977 and not later than July 1, 1991. Relaxation in upper age will be given as per the rule of govt.

Application procedure: Eligible candidates can apply through OMR application form which can be purchased from the below mentioned Head Post Office of the Districts or from the Post Offices mentioned in the advertisement. Application fee: The cost of the O.M.R application forms is Rs. 155/- for (General, OBC of U.P. and all candidates of other States) and Rs. 95/- for (SC of U.P, ST of UP). The Cost of application form for physically handicapped Candidates is Rs. 55/- (Cost of set Rs. 25/- + Postal Charges Rs.30/-) only which can be paid through E-challan which will be used to deposit fee in any of the branches of State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank. The candidates must keep a photocopy of their O.M.R. application form with them.

Plan of Examination: The competitive examination comprise three successive stages viz :-
(1) Preliminary Examination (Objective Type & Multiple choice).
(2) Main Examination (Conventional Type, i.e. written examination)
(3) Viva- Voce (Personality Test)

Preliminary Examination pattern for Public Service Commission, UP Combined State/ Upper Subordinate Service Examination 2012: The Preliminary examination will consist of two papers with 200 marks each and of two hours durations. Both the papers shall be objective Type & multiple choices in which there shall be 150-150 questions. The timing of paper I will be from 9.30 to 11.30 A.M. and paper II from 2.30 to 4.30 P.M.

Syllabus for Preliminary Examination:
PAPER -I : Current events of national and international importance, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World , Indian Polity and governance - Constitution , Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues etc, Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development Poverty Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives etc, General Issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change- that do not require subject specialization, General Science

PAPER-II: Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving, General mental ability, Elementary Mathematics upto Class X level- Arithmatic, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics, General English upto Class X level, General Hindi upto Class X level

Main examination pattern for Public Service Commission, UP Combined State/ Upper Subordinate Service Examination 2012: The Written examination will consist of the following compulsory and optional subjects. The candidates have to select any two subjects from the list of optional subjects for main examination. Each optional subject will consist of two papers. Timing of Examination Paper of 2 hours will be 9.30 am to 11.30 am and 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Timing of examination paper of 3 hours is 9.30 am to 12.30 am & 2 pm to 5 pm.

Compulsory subjects for main examination: General Hindi (150 marks), Essay (150 marks), General Studies (I-Paper) 200 marks, General Studies (II-Paper) 200 marks

Optional subjects for main examination: Agriculture, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Sociology, Philosophy, Geology, Psychology, Botany, Law, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Statistics, Management, Political Science & International Relations, History, Social Work, Anthropology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, English Lit., Urdu Lit., Arabic Lit., Hindi Lit., Persian Lit., Sanskrit Lit., Commerce & Accountancy, Public Administration, Agricultural Engineering, Defence Studies.

Personality Test (Viva-Voce): The test will relate to the matter of general interest keeping the matter of academic interest in view and for general awareness, intelligence, character, expression power/personality and general suitability for the service
