Government of Tamil Nadu, Teachers Recruitment Board is inviting online applications for Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2012 for the year-2012 from the candidates in Tamil Nadu. Teachers Recruitment Board, Tamil Nadu is inviting online applications for Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2012 for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools candidate should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE.

Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2012 eligibility criteria


Recruitment of Teachers for classes I to V candidates should have passed Higher Secondary Course (10+2 Pattern) and Diploma in Teacher Education in a Recognized Teacher Training Institute / DIET.


Recruitment of Teachers for classes VI to VIII candidates should have passed a Bachelor's Degree (B.A. /B.Sc. / B.Litt.) with Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, History and Geography or a Degree with any one of the equivalent subjects from a Recognized University under 10+2+3 Pattern and a Degree in Teacher Education (B.Ed.) from a Recognized University.

Candidates appearing for the Final Year Examination of D.T.Ed / B.Ed. during the current Academic Year are also eligible to appear for the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2012.

How to apply for Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2012


Application procedure: Eligible candidates may apply through prescribed application format which is available at Office of District Educational officer on payment of Rs-50/- and submit filled form in person along with challan in Office where the candidate receive application form on or before 04-04-2012 at 5.30 P.M.

Application & Examination Fee: Applications can obtain from District Educational Officers on payment of50/- in cash towards the cost of Application Form and Prospectus. Examination Fee will be500/- (or 250/- for SC/ST/ Differently Abled) even if the candidate opts for a single paper (Paper I or Paper II) or for both Paper I and Paper II.

The fee should be paid by the candidate in any Branch of the State Bank of India only using the prescribed Challan attached with the Prospectus. Payment of Fees in any other method will not be accepted.

• Commencement of Sale of Application Forms: 22-03-2012
• Last Date for Receipt of Application: 04.04.2012 5.30 p.m.
• Date of Written Examination-Paper I: 03.06.2012 (F.N.)
• Date of Written Examination-Paper-II: 03.06.2012 (A.N.)

Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2012 test paper and exam pattern


Paper I exam pattern: Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes I to V. Number of Questions 150 MCQs and the Duration of the Examination is 1Hour and 30 Minutes as per the details mention below:

1. Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to age group 6–11 years): 30 question (30 marks)
2. Language I– Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/Urdu: 30 question (30 marks)
3. Language II - English: 30 question (30 marks)
4. Mathematics: 30 question (30 marks)
5. Environmental Studies: 30 question (30 marks)

Paper II exam pattern: Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes VI to VIII. Number of Questions 150 MCQs and the Duration of the Examination is 1 Hour and 30 Minutes as per the details mention below:

1. Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to age group 11–14 years): 30 question (30 marks)
2. Language I– Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/Urdu: 30 question (30 marks)
3. Language II - English: 30 question (30 marks)
4. For Mathematics and Science Mathematics and Science (for Mathematics and Science teacher) OR Social (For Social Studies Teacher) OR Any Other Teacher [(a) or (b)]: : 60 question (60 marks)
