What is IBPS CWE Exam?


Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has been authorized to conduct Common Written Examination (CWE) for recruitment of personnels to Indian Public Sector Banks. In more simple words, it is the gateway for job aspirants to enter Public Sector Banks through a Common Written Examination. So far the IBPS has conducted the following exams.

Is there any new changes in IBPS CWE Clerk 2012 exam for December?


Of Course a major change has been introduced in this upcoming CWE Clerk II exam in December 2012. Let's see one by one here.
  • New change in IBPS participating banks: Till last year, only 19 banks has participated in IBPS CWE exam for Clerks. From this year a new addition, IDBI has joined the list.

  • New change in CWE Clerk Interview: Candidates need to get ready for Common Interviews. Yes, the qualified candidates of CWE Clerk II exam will be called up to attend common interview co-ordinated by IBPS. Earlier individual banks conducted individual interviews to select candidates. Now the new change IBPS CWE Clerk 2012 common interview is introduced to avoid the same candidate getting multiple offers from the banks.

  • New change in eligibility criteria: Now for this IBPS CWE Clerk II exam only Graduate Candidates can apply for clerk jobs in banks. Candidates of XII std pass outs or studying in college are not eligible.

What is the eligibility criteria for IBPS CWE Clerk recruitment 2012


Age limit: The age limit for IBPS Clerk recruitment 2012 should be between 20 to 28 years as on 01.10.2012. However the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD, 9 years for widows and divorced women, 8 years for SC/ST disabled Ex-Servicemen, actual period of service in defence forces plus 3 years subject to maximum age limit of 50 years for Ex-Servicemen is applicable.

  • The candidate should have a degree in any discipline or equivalent qualification from a recognized university

  • Working knowledge in Computer is essential and the candidate should hold a Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Computer Operations / Language / should have studied Computer/ IT as one of the subjects in High school/College/Institute.

  • Candidates should have proficiency to read/write/speak in the official language of the State/UT for which he/she wishes to apply is preferable.

What is the exam structure, pattern and syllabus for IBPS CWE Clerk 2012 Exam?


The IBPS CWE Clerk Dec 2012 exam will be conducted online. The online written exam will be of objective type multiple choice questions consists of 40 questions from each of the below mentioned five test subjects.

Syllabus/subjects for CWE Clerk Dec 2012 exam:
Reasoning - Carries 40 marks
English Language - Carries 40 marks
Numerical Ability - Carries 40 marks
General Awareness with Special reference to Banking Industry - Carries 40 marks
Computer Knowledge - 40 marks.

So you have to attend 200 questions which carries 200 marks. The time given to complete the test is 2 hours. Except English language all the question papers for IBPS CWE Clerk 2012 exam mentioned above will be set in both English and Hindi.

Candidates need to be cautious while answering as there will be negative marking for IBPS CWE Clerk 2012 exam for which 0.25 marks will be deducted as penalty for each wrong answer. So be sure of the answer before you attend.

CWE Scores for IBPS Clerk II 2012 exam: The candidates need to get the minimum standard score in each of the above mentioned test and as well on the Total Weighted Standard Score (TWSS) in order to be called up for interview process. What is the selection procedure for IBPS Clerk recruitment 2012


The candidates for recruitment of Clerks in Public Sector Banks will be selected based on Common Written Exam conducted by IBPS. After which a common interview will be co-ordinated by IBPS for those who qualified in the online written exam. For appointment of clerks in IBPS participating public sector banks candidates need to qualify both in CWE and interview.

How to get IBPS CWE Clerk 2012 Call letter / Admit Card?


Candidates can get their call letter for CWE Clerk 2012 exam from the official website of IBPS which will be availbale from 03.12.2012. Candidates need to enter their registration number and Password / Date of Birth to obtain admit card for CWE Clerk 2012 exam.


How to pay the fees and what is the procedure to apply for IBPS CWE Clerk recruitment 2012


Application fees: General Candidates need to pay 400 and SC/ST/PWD/EXSM candidates need to pay 50. Candidates can pay either through online mode or offline mode.

How to pay the fees through offline mode: To pay the fees offline candidates need to get the challan from the official website and have to pay the fees in any of the following 7 Public Sector Banks - Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Central Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, United Bank of India. Candidates need to pay the fees from the 2nd working day after online registration and it should be made within three working days.

How to pay the fees online: The application form is integrated with payment gateway for online payment on which candidates can use their Master /Visa Debit or Credit cards or Internet Banking through which they can pay the fees online.

How to apply: Before applying candidates have to scan their photograph and signature. Create a valid email id and keep it active as this will be utilized for entire recruitment process. Candidates need to visit to the official website of IBPS to fill the online application form for IBPS CWE Clerk 2012 recruitment for which the online registration starts from October 15, 2012.

Duly fill the details and hit the submit button. Candidates will be asked to upload their photo and signature on page 2 of online application. After uploading and submitting the form, candidates will get system generated registration number and password which has to be noted down for future use and reference. Take the print out of filled in application form and keep it for future reference.

Candidates will get Sms/email about the registration number and password after two working days from the date of payment of fees, which confirms there application has been properly registered.
