TNPSC notification for Combined Engineering Services Examination vide notification no. 53/2012 dated 24.12.2012 has been issued which invites online applications from eligible candidates to apply for the post of Assistant Engineers and other posts included in the Combined Engineering Services Examination (2009-10 to 2012-13). TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Examination 2013 vacancies, pay scale and eligibility

TNPSC CESE 2013 vacancies: A total of 222 vacancies available for various Assistant Engineers and other vacancies in the following mentioned departments for which the details are here under.
  1. Assistant Engineeer (Civil) in Water Resource Department, PWD - 104 vacancies.
  2. Assistant Engineer (Civil) in Building Organisation, PWD - 50 vacancies.
  3. Assistant Engineer (Electrical) PWD - 28 vacancies
  4. Assistant Engineer in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department- 18 vacancies
  5. Assistant Inspector of Factories - 13 vacancies
  6. Junior Electrical Inspector - 7 vacanciesJunior Assistant Director for Boilers - 2 vacancies

TNPSC CESE Salary: The salary offered for Assistant Engineers, Assistant Inspector of Factories and Junior Electrical Inspector is 15600-39100 with Grade Pay of 5400. The salary for Junior Assistant Director of Boilers is 15600-39100 with Grade pay of 4700.

TNPSC CESE 2013 age limit: For candidates belongs to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all Castes should be above 18 years and no maximum age limit and for others the age should be between 18 to 30 years as on 01.07.2012.

TNPSC CESE educational qualification: The candidates should have acquired the below said qualification as on 24.12.2012 as stated in the official notification.

For the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) - Candidate should have B.E in Civil Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering or A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations under Civil Engineering branch subject to the conditions mentioned here under.
  • They should provide proof of having undergone practical training for at least one year in the field of surveying for at least one year

  • Should have served in Public Works Department for at least a year as Overseer or Jr. Engineer
  • (OR)
  • Should hold the Upper Subordinate or L.C.E Diploma of the College of Engineering, Guindy or L.C.E Diploma awarded by State Board of Technical Education and Trainining Chennai.

For Assistant Engineer (Electrical) - Candidates with degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering (OR) A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examination with Electrical Engineering as a subject are eligible to apply.

For Assistant Engineer in Rural Development and Panchayat Raj - Candidates with Degree in Civil Engineering (OR) a pass in Sections A and B of the Institutions of Engineers (India) under Civil Eng. Branch subject to provide evidence of one year practical training in Surveying.

For Assistant Inspector of Factories - Candidates with Degree in Mechanical or Production or Industrial or Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Textile Technology are eligible.

For Junior Electrical Inspector - A degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

For Junior Assistant Director of Boilers - A degree in Mechanical Engineering or A pass in Associate Membership Examination of Institution of Engineers, India with Mechanical Engineering as the subject.

Selection process for TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Examination 2013

Candidates will be selected based on Computer Based Test followed by Oral Test.

TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Exam syllabus and pattern

There will be a computer based test where the candidates need to take up the exam in which he/she has acquired the qualification and this carries 300 marks and Interview and records carries 40 marks. Out of this 300 marks the qualifying marks for SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs and BCMs is 102 and for others it is 136.

The syllabus is based on the subject they have qualified in the degree for which they are applying and the question paper for TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Exam will be in degree standard. Candidates can refer the official website of TNPSC to get more details on syllabus.

Examination centres for TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Examination 2013

The examination for TNPSC CESE will be held in the following centres in Tamil Nadu. Chennai, Coimbatore, Chidambaram, Kancheepuram, Karaikudi, Madurai, Nagercoil, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Udhagamandalam and Vellore.

TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Exam online application form, fees and procedure to apply

Fees: Candidates need to pay 175 (examination fees 125 and Cost of application 50) by the way of online payment or offline mode. For offline mode it can be paid through challan obtained from the official website and have to be remitted in any Indian Bank branch or Post Office. Candidates who are exempted from paying examination fees needs to pay 50 towards application cost. Candidates who have registered for TNPSC one time online registration and have paid the fees need not pay for a period of 5 years from the date of their registration.

How to apply: Candidates need to fill the online application form for TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Exam by accessing the official website of TNPSC. Fill the relevant details and upload your photograph and scanned signature. To pay online an additional page will be displayed. After making payment hit the submit button upon which you will get a system generated application number and password. Make a note of this and take the print out and keep it for future reference.
