Junior Engineers in various departments mentioned here under for which it will hold a Combined All India Open Examination. So read on to know who are eligible to take up this exam for the recruitment of Engineer vacancies.

SSC Junior Engineer recruitment 2013 eligibility, pay scale and vacancy details


SSC JE 2013 vacancies: SSC has not yet announced the number of vacancies to be filled up, but it is going to recruit Junior Engineers in the following departments.
  1. Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical), CPWD
  2. Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical), Department of Posts
  3. Junior Engineer (Civil), MES
  4. Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), MES
  5. Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveyig & Contract), MES, Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical) CWC and Farakka Barrage.

SSC JE pay scale: The salary for SSC Junior Engineer jobs will be in the pay scale of 9300-34800 with GP of 4200.

SSC JE exam age limit: The age limit mentioned below should be as on 01.01.2013. However the upper age limit will be relaxed as per norms.
  • For Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical) in CPWD and Dept. of Posts the age of the candidate should be between 18 to 27 years.
  • For Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in MES, the age of the candidate should not be above 30 years.
  • For Junior Engineers (Civil & Mechanical) in CWC and Farakka Barrage the age of the candidate should not be above 32 years.
  • For Junior Engineers (Quantity Surveying and Contract) in MES the age limit should be between 18 to 27 years.

SSC JE educational eligibility: To apply for SSC JE 2013 exam, candidates need to have acquired the following said educational qualifications as on 01.01.2013.
  • For Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical) CPWD - Candidates with Diploma in Civil / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering recognized by Central Govt or equivalent qualification.

  • For Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical) Dept of Post - Candidates with three years Diploma or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering from Central or State Govt recognized Institution can apply.

  • For Junior Engineer (Civil), MES - Candidates with Degree in Civil Engineering or 3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering with 2 years relevant experience can apply.

  • For Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) MES - Candidates with Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or 3 years Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 2 years relevant experience can apply.

  • For Junior Engineer (QS & C) MES - Candidates with 3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent (OR) Passed Intermediate examination in Building and Quantity Surveying Sub Div.II of the Institute of Surveyors (India) are eligible to apply.

  • For Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical), CWC and Farakka Barrage - Candidates with Degree or Diploma in Civil / Mechanical Engineering are eligible to apply.

SSC Junior Engineer recruitment 2013 selection procedure


Candidates will be selected based on written test followed by interview. The written test will carry 500 marks and interview carries 100 marks. The Combined All India Open Examination for SSC JE Exam will be on 26.05.2013.

SSC Junior Engineer Exam 2013 Syllabus and Pattern


The written test for SSC JE exam consists of two papers. Paper I is of objective type and Paper II is of conventional type.

SSC JE exam question Paper I is of objective type and will have the following subjects and time given to complete is 2 hours.
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning - 50 marks
  • General Awareness - 50 marks
  • Part A - General engineering (Civil & Structural) OR Part B - General Engineering (Electrical) OR Part C - General Engineering (Mechanical) - 100 marks

SSC JE exam question Paper II is of conventional type and will have the following subjects and the time given to complete is 2 hours.
  • Part A - General Engineering (Civil & Structural) OR Part B - General Engineering (Electrical) OR Part C - General Engineering (Mechanical)

Candidates please note that there will be negative marking for SSC JE exam 2013 for Paper I for which 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. You can check the answer keys for SSC JE exam 2013 paper I within 7 days of the exam on the official website.

SSC Junior Engineer recruitment online application form, fees and procedure to apply


Application fees: Candidates should pay a fee of 100 through SBI either by the way of Challan or through SBI net banking facility. SC/ST and women candidates are exempted from fee payment.

How to apply: The online registration for SSC Junior Engineer exam consists of two stages Part I and Part II. So the candidates are requested to visit ssconline.nic.in and click the Part I registration and duly fill the online application form for SSC JE exam 2013. Upon completing Part I registration, you will get a system generated registration number. Note down this number and proceed to make fee payment. After depositing the fees, visit the official website and continue with Part II registration by entering your registration number. Upload the scanned signature and photograph and hit the submit button and you are done! Take the print out of filled in application form and keep it for your future reference.
