Why many job seekers failed interviews

There are three major reasons many applicants are disqualified before and during interviews.

a. Inability to address some basic qualitative issues
b. Inability to pass basic quantitative and verbal reasoning tests
c. Inability to make good grades from school

Unfortunately, there is so little that can be done to address the third deficiency at this point. We can only advice such applicants to improve on their skills through self- development, and obtain higher qualifications MBA, MSC, PGD and the like in relevant areas.

Here are some of the reasons many candidates fail interviews;-

1. Poor CV – many candidates do not get short listed because their CV cannot create positive image or sell them to their prospective employers
2. Lack of technical skills – many employers look for ready- made employee. They do not have the patience to deploy time and resources in training anyone. You may not be considered if you are not skilled in the use of the computer, and driving to mention but few.
3. Poor outlook – imagine appearing at the interview venue in wrinkled suit and unkempt hair, or not smartly and neatly dressed. You do not stand a chance. You will be seen as unorganized.
4. Poor body language – considers someone who enters interview room with his nose in the air or looking dull, unsmiling face or body language. You have created bad first impression.
5. Lateness – coming too late or missing an interview outright may be disastrous. You may not be reconsidered for another interview.
6. Mental laziness – some people do not take interviews seriously thinking it is a piece of cake.

They do not update their knowledge thereby putting their mental and intellectual capabilities to question. Many do not bother to know anything about the company they are applying to. A lot more get disqualified due to their inability to organize their thoughts following questions asked from their CV.

You would not be doing yourself any good if you do not prepare adequately for your interview.
